BYO Bag for Change

The BYO Bag for Change program is partnering with local stores to implement a rewards system for shoppers with re-useable bags. At participating stores, a $0.05, $0.10, or more refund is given to customers, who then have the option of donating their reuseable bag refund to a rotating roster of Bozeman non-profits through VoFP.

This program is a voluntary, cooperative effort between businesses and consumers to change the unsustainable single use bag habit. The transition to re-useable bags becomes a conscious choice and a citizen led effort, while also raising funding for local causes. Montana’s state legislature, along with 10 other U.S. states, have outlawed local bag bans. This program creates a template for reducing single-use bags in any community.
