Valley of the Flowers Project's vision of transforming our community, and our world into a sustainable one reflects the great respect of this work for the original inhabitants of this land. The native tribes who resided here for thousands of years have a rich custom, lore and value system based on the sustainability of their spiritual connection, belonging, obligation and responsibility to care for the land, the people, and the environment. Valley of the Flowers Project has deep respect for and honors the Native peoples, and works to support their core values to protect the land and provide a healthy future for all living creatures.

Wren Kilian
My name is Wren Kilian and I have been a nature lover and photographer since my youth, always picking up trash I find after photographing at a site. Finding peace in the every day beauty that surrounds us is invaluable to me, and my passion is to spread an awareness of how precious this gift of the natural world is, and how we need to be the best possible stewards of it that we can.

William J. Moore
Born and raised in Montana, I spent my childhood roaming the Hills and Creeks of the Lower Sweet Grass close to Big Timber. My parents fostered a great love of the outdoors in me, taking me on float trips on the Yellowstone, Ski Trips to Bridger, and Hiking in the surrounding areas. They also taught me to respect the land through practices of Sustainable Agriculture/Land Management, and hunting in ways that do not diminish the herds but helps them flourish, never taking more than needed.

I have always enjoyed the outdoors and care a lot about the legacy we are leaving for future generations. I have lived in Bozeman for years, and have seen many changes, not all of them good. I believe we can do better in our environmental stewardship, and I think using a reusable bag is a simple way to make a difference that we all can do. I like to contribute to the community in whatever way I can, and I happen to like sewing. I have
decided that I won’t stop sewing until I see every shopper with a reusable bag. It needs to get to the point where people realize that remembering their reusable bag is as important as remembering their wallet. I am really hoping more people will start sewing and we can get thousands of bags out there every year to raise more funds and help create sustainable community.
Jill has sewed over 500 bags out of recycled fabric which we sell at Farmer’s Markets, Town and Country, and Joe’s Parkway to raise funds for our non-profit work.

Chris and Nevada Thompson
Pioneers in Sustainability, Wellness, and Community Engagement
Chris and Nevada Thompson embody a modern approach to sustainability, community health, and eco-tourism, blending traditional values with innovative practices. While attending Montana State University, the couple discovered the principles of sustainability and were inspired by their
ancestors, who homesteaded the Hysham Hills in the 1800s and produced 90% of what they consumed. Reflecting on their own lives, they realized they produced virtually nothing they used and resolved to embrace a neo-homesteading lifestyle on ten acres outside the expanding Gallatin Valley.

Trey Behling
Born and raised in central Montana, Trey discovered his passion for design in high school, a passion that has evolved to blend creativity with sustainability. After earning a degree in Graphic Design, he expanded his expertise into print and marketing, with a strong emphasis on supporting nonprofit organizations. His freelance work has centered on creating materials, both digital and print, to amplify the impact of mission-driven initiatives.
