Chris and Nevada Thompson
Chris and Nevada Thompson embody a modern approach to sustainability, community health, and eco-tourism, blending traditional values with innovative practices. While attending Montana State University, the couple discovered the principles of sustainability and were inspired by their ancestors, who homesteaded the Hysham Hills in the 1800s and produced 90% of what they consumed. Reflecting on their own lives, they realized they produced virtually nothing they used and resolved to embrace a neo-homesteading lifestyle on ten acres outside the expanding Gallatin Valley.
Their journey began with a bold experiment: living without electricity or running water for a year while building their home. Using solar power, gas generators, and repurposed materials from the construction industry’s waste, they turned their vision into reality. Over the years, they have planted hundreds of drought-resistant trees and shrubs, creating a thriving food forest nourished by runoff from their alpaca herd.
Parallel to their homesteading efforts, the Thompsons built Synchronicity: Massage, Health & Wellness Center in the heart of Bozeman. The center has since expanded to include the SpaDome, offering massage, infrared saunas, cold plunges, and other cutting-edge health modalities. Their work now extends to an agritourism destination that invites others to experience the sustainable practices they have honed.
Their commitment to sustainability also inspired the Yellowstone Eco Tourism Initiative (YETI), which allows visitors to explore Yellowstone National Park and other Montana attractions using electric vehicles like their Chevy Bolt EV. This eco-friendly approach reduces emissions and noise pollution while showcasing Montana’s natural and cultural treasures, from ghost towns to breweries, historical sites, museums, and outdoor destinations. As Montana’s EV charging network grows, YETI’s potential will expand, further connecting visitors with the state’s unique offerings.
In addition to their business ventures, Chris and Nevada are deeply involved in community initiatives. Through their work with Transition Town Bozeman and Whole Health Warriors, subsidiaries of the Valley of Flowers Project and the Community Outdoor Recreation Association, they advocate for sustainable living practices and local resilience. Their efforts have helped create a blueprint for a sustainable future, rooted in community, health, and the environment.
Chris and Nevada Thompson continue to lead by example, merging past wisdom with modern solutions to inspire others to live sustainably, prioritize wellness, and connect deeply with their surroundings.
